We’re having a look at the life of Leslie Wexner (Victoria’s Secret) — Who gave JE essentially free reign over his finances. This is a presentation of information not pointing fingers or blame. I’ll keep adding to this when I find more information.

Born: Leslie H. Wexner — September 8, 1937, Dayton, Ohio

Parents: Harry and Bella — Russian-Jewish immigrant background and ran a small clothing store in Columbus named “Leslie’s,” after him.

He grew up involved in family business decision-making early.

How he built his company

After Ohio State University (business degree) and service in the Air National Guard, he worked in the family store.
He noticed a key retail insight: high-priced items (like coats) were not the profit engine. Fast-turnover lower-priced items were.
He couldn’t persuade his father to change the model, so he started his own business.
In 1963 (age 26) he opened The Limited in Columbus (Kingsdale Shopping Center), focused on trendy clothing for young women.
He expanded methodically and became wealthy quickly.
The Limited went public in 1969.

Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, and expansion

In 1982, he bought Victoria’s Secret from founder Roy Raymond for $1 million when it was struggling financially.
He repositioned Victoria’s Secret to focus on women buying for themselves, not men buying gifts.
Rapid scaling: hundreds of stores, big sales growth, then the televised fashion show begins in 1995.
He expanded into personal care and home fragrance with Bath & Body Works (first store 1990, major growth through the 1990s).
Over time, he consolidated brands under L Brands, selling or spinning off others like Abercrombie & Fitch, Lerner, Lane Bryant, and more.

Philanthropy and institutional influence

Major benefactor of Ohio State University for decades.
Wexner Center for the Arts and Wexner Medical Center branding reflects the scale of donations and influence.
Created the Wexner Foundation (Jewish leadership and education programs).
Significant giving to institutions and community organizations.

I’d like to add that a lot of bad people donate to charity, the reason they do so it because it makes them look better, they can deduct it from their taxes, and they can donate to their friends causes, which end up benefitting them.

Personal life and assets mentioned

Married Abigail Koppel in 1993, four children.
Residence centered in Ohio (New Albany area) with a large estate.
Owns notable high-end assets: historic house in England, large yacht “Limitless,” etc.

In 2020, he stepped down as Chairman and CEO of L Brands
